Shiny Galarian Ponyta Coming To Pokemon GO in June

The official Pokemon Go June blog update left out an important part about the Shiny Galarian Ponyta that will be coming soon. Pokemon Go players and dataminers that frequent the r/TheSilphRoad subReddit noticed that the Shiny Galarian Ponyta encounters were not happening post-Luminous Legends X event. In the period between May 18-24, no shiny Galarian Ponyta could be claimed and caught from a research breakthrough. Now, developer Niantic has confirmed and resolved this issue, and is offering a compensation for players.

On its official known issues page, developer Niantic wrote:

“Galarian Ponyta could not be encountered in its Shiny form.

– Issue description: Trainers could not encounter the Shiny form of Galarian Ponyta from Eggs or Research Breakthroughs from Tuesday May 18 until Monday May 24.

– Issue status: Resolved. To make up for this issue, Galarian Ponyta will be appearing more often in 7km Eggs and there will be Timed Research featuring Galarian Ponyta plus bonus items.”

The Shiny capabilities of the Galarian Ponyta was the Research Breakthrough for May 2021 and players who claimed it during this buggy period weren’t able to claim that Shiny. The information that Niantic will be offering recompense for this was first announced not on its official Pokemon Go Twitter page (which has over three million followers), but instead on its Niantic Support profile. This Twitter profile has significantly fewer followers (around 350k). Here is the Tweet in full:

“Trainers, to make up for issues with Shiny Galarian Ponyta, we will be adding these bonuses from June 1st, 2021 at 10:00 am to June 8th, 2021, at 10:00 am local time:

– Galarian Ponyta appearing more often in 7km Eggs

– Timed Research featuring Galarian Ponyta plus bonus items

It’s good to see that Niantic has acknowledged this issue and is providing a way to let its players receive the Shiny Galarian Ponyta. If you are one of the players that hasn’t been able to get this Shiny, be sure to play Pokemon Go from June 1st to June 8th.
