How to Start a New Game in Dragon's Dogma 2

Can’t figure out how to start a new game in Dragon’s Dogma 2? I don’t blame you. The game does everything it can to keep you borderline chained to the one single save file it lets you have. You can’t just start afresh with a different character like in many other RGPs. However, there is a way to work around this, so long as you’re prepared to sacrifice everything you’ve done up to that point. Here’s what you need to do.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 How to Start New Game?

The only way to start a new game in Dragon’s Dogma 2 that we know of is to delete your current save file. On PlayStation 5, be sure to turn the game off completely. After that, head into the Game Hub, highlight the game and hit the Options button on your controller. Select Manage Game Content, then Saved Data. Find the files you want to erase, select them, then delete them. Confirm the deletion when prompted. That’s it. Remember that you can upload the save file to the cloud before deleting it if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber.

The steps are fairly similar on Xbox Series S/X. Make sure you’ve exited the game fully, then go back to the Home Screen. Select My games & apps on the right, then hit See all. Find Dragon’s Dogma 2, highlight it and hit the Options button on your controller. The next step that will allow you to start a new game in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is to select Manage Game & Add-ons, then Saved data. Select the files you want to remove and hit Delete. Confirm your decision. I don’t know whether there’s a similar system of backing up files on the cloud, but I assume there is.

Last, but not least, Steam. Things are a bit more complicated here, kinda. Highlight the game in your library, right-click it and select Browse Local Files. From there, you have to find the save file. Sometimes it’s in a separate folder called “save” or “savedata” or something like that. Other times, you’ll have to locate it in a largely unsorted list. Usually, it has an extension like .sav or .dat. Select it and delete it as you would any other file, but before that, make a copy of it in a separate folder, just in case. The problem with Steam is that you also have to disable cloud saves manually in order to fully get rid of the save.
