How to Upgrade Weapons in FF7 Rebirth?

To upgrade your weapons in FF7 Rebirth, you basically don’t have to do anything. You just have to play the game and you’ll earn both character and weapon SP. As your weapons go up the levels (and they seem to all share the same SP pool), you unlock new Stat Boosts and Weapon Skills. And that’s really where you have any sort of agency on your end. As in, you can pick and choose which Weapon Skills you have equipped in the Weapon Upgrade screen. There’s only so many you can have on at a time, depending on the number of slots you have. Naturally, you will get more slots as you progress and upgrade your weapons further.

So, yeah, that’s how you upgrade weapons in FF7 Rebirth. As far as Stat Boosts go, they are just passive buffs that you just unlock and have as you go. That said, there is one more point of agency you have. Head to the Upgrade Weapons menu in the Options, then select the character that wields the weapon you want to mess with. Select the weapon, then hit the Options again. You can now choose how the game is going to auto-spend the SP: in a balanced way, prioritizing Defense, or Prioritizing Offense. But for the most part, though, there’s not much that’s up to you as far as upgrading the weapons in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth goes. It’s a bit of a bummer, but I think some people will appreciate the streamlined approach.
