How to Move the Bookcase in the Blighted Village Cellar in Baldur’s Gate 3

The cellar in Baldur’s Gate 3 under the Blighted Village Apothecary is one of the more mysterious locations you’ll stumble upon in the early game. You’ll either discover the cellar while exploring, or you will be directed here after reading the intriguing Apprentice’s Journal. The journal is located in a backpack inside the Whispering Depths. Once you read the journal, the quest “Search the Cellar” will kick off.

The Apothecary in Blighted Village is a two-story building with wooden doors. Once inside, you’ll immediately spot a trap door. Lift the hatch and enter the cellar. The most eye-catching thing in the Blighted Village cellar is the bookcase, without a doubt. There’s got to be a secret door behind it, right?

So how to open the secret passage behind the bookcase in the Blighted Village Cellar in Baldur’s Gate 3? Well, you can not move it directly. Instead, look at the wooden crates to the left of the bookcase. You will need to use your characters to either move or destroy these boxes. You can either use your stronger characters to drag them to another position or simply spend spells and other abilities to damage them until they are destroyed. Behind them is a lever! Pull the lever to move the bookcase and open the secret door!
