How to Fix Cyberpunk 2077 Glitched Map Bug

The broken map bug in Cyberpunk 2077 started appearing on Wednesday, October 13th. And, judging from reports, it seems that it currently only affects PC gamers. Thus, it’s safe to say that this is a PC-related bug. The second thing important to notice is that there were no updates and patches on that day for Cyberpunk 2077. This is important to point out because nothing changed within the game to make the bug suddenly appear. So, why is this happening now and how can it be fixed?

The most likely cause for this map glitch in Cyberpunk 2077 on PC is the latest Nvidia driver. Nvidia has just released driver version 522.25 for their GPUs. And, based on what other players with the same issue say, the reason for this map glitch is almost 100% the new drivers. Several people have reported that after they have rolled back to an older version of the driver, the broken map bug has disappeared. Thus, in order to fix the Cyberpunk 2077 map bug, you should roll back to your previous Nvidia driver. The new drivers are only important for the new RTX 4000 series, thus you will not lose much by skipping them. We hope that Nvidia and CD Projekt RED will find a solution for this issue. However, for now, the temporary solution we have offered will do the trick.

Fixed it. I realized that I downloaded patch 522.30 which is the Nvidia Studio Driver, so I switched it to the Game Ready driver, which contains patch 522.25. To do so, I went to the ellipses next to the Check for Update button and switched them there.

Ill just add that I have an NVIDIA card and I have not seen this particular “map bug”

However, I know better than to update my video card drivers unless there is actually a reason to do so. This is a perfect example of why you shouldn’t accept the newest update just because there is one. You have no idea what a new driver may break or issues that it may introduce.

You should always read change logs (really before you update anything but especially drivers). The NVIDIA driver download page will detail what the driver fixes and which games the update is intended to provide optimized game profiles for. If you’ve been playing a game and having no real issues that you believe could be driver related, or if you read a driver update’s change log and find that it provides no benefit for the games you play… it’s actually pointless to accept the update. Again, unless the change log says some new technology has been activated or something.

The new drivers created this glitch for me, RTX 3080. Hope NVIDIA releases a hotfix for this soon. I don’t really want to roll back my drivers as I think I see a performance increase in my DX12 games, which is always welcome.

No, Nvidia themselves have stated that the drivers should theoretically improve performance for any DirectX12 capable cards. There are people out there who see improvements even for Turing series.

    1. Sure, but for the purpose of fixing this issue, it’s ok to skip them until the problem is resolved.
