Will Baldur's Gate 3 Have Preload

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a huge game – in almost every sense of the word. Since it features a sprwaling world filled with all manner of characters, quests, enemies, and loot, not to mention – a whole bunch of choice and consequence that make it a very replayable experience – it’s no wonder that it also takes up a big chunk of storage space. In fact, according to the official system requirements, Baldur’s Gate III is going to need around 150 GB of disk space. Since the game is going to be out very soon, this has led to many players wondering whether or not Baldur’s Gate 3 will have preload. After all, the option to start preloading a game days before it is out can save us a lot of time – especially if we have slower internet. So let’s see if this handy option is present in BG3.

Is BG3 Going to Have Preload Before Launch

Unfortunately, Baldur’s Gate 3 won’t have preload before it’s official launch on the PC this August 3rd, 2023. Of course, it’s always possible that this option is going to be present for when the game releases on the PS5 a month later on September 6th. So now that we know that BG3 is not going to feature preloading as an option, the next logical question that arises is – why that is in the first place.

Well, the most likely reason for this decision is because Baldur’s Gate 3 was an Early Access title. Essentially, you can think of the EA version of BG3 and its full release as two separate games. The full release of the game will not only feature a lot more content, but it will also come with options that simply were not available during the EA period of the game – such as playable Origins, new classes, races, and so on. But while there is no preload, the good news is that the game is releasing a lot sooner than it was planned. So, in a way, even without preload, we still get to play BG3 earlier.
