Helldivers 2 Still Hasn't Recovered from Sony Drama

While the brave helldivers all across the world have scored a hard-earned victory against Sony, the war is far from over. For one, at time of writing, the Steam review score hasn’t recovered yet. It’s anybody’s guess whether it ever will; I’m positive a fair number of people will refuse to revert their review from negative to positive. On top of that, Helldivers 2 is still delisted in every country that doesn’t have access to PSN. In fact, the number has risen to a nice, round hundred and twenty. The struggle is ongoing, and it’ll be fascinating to observe.

Helldivers 2 is Still Not Back to Normal

When it rains, it pours, but even when the clouds begin to clear, there’s always a bird just waiting to unload on your head as soon as you close your umbrella. Even after Helldivers 2 was barred in every non-PSN country, an extra three countries have been added to the list. This immediately provoked a reaction from the still-raw community, prompting CEO Pilestedt to respond on Discord. As reported by PCGamesN, it turns out that this was done by Valve. Apparently, the list of banned countries was incomplete, so they updated it to include Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.

So, yeah, this doesn’t mean that further restrictions are inbound. Which is difficult to believe, considering that Valve was initially blamed for implementing the restrictions, only for it to be revealed that they acted on Sony’s instructions. But Pilestedt has been pretty transparent, so I’m inclined to believe him. But all of this just goes to show that the struggle is far from over. Helldivers 2 is still unavailable for purchase in a hundred and twenty countries. Arrowhead are doing their best to revert this decision, but knowing how big corporations work, it might take weeks for Sony to budge on the issue, if they ever do.

My dear helldivers, even though I’m not a part of your community, I admire what you’ve done. Please, do not rest on your laurels just yet. The game you love is still in a precarious position. Keep helping Arrowhead fight the good fight. Good luck!
