How to Add Fish to Garden Pond in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
To add fish to the garden pond in Link’s house in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, you first have to build one. Talk to Granteson and task him to make you a garden pond. It will cost you three hundred Rupees, which isn’t that bad. Once the pond is done, you will have one single Sanke Carp swimming in there. It always respawns, so if you really have no other recourse, you can eat it. Won’t do you much good, but it is there. So, you might think that all you need to do is go and catch some fish, then plop them into the pond, right? Nope, of course not. Fish die when you take them out of the water, don’t you know?
According to Reddit user TheRealSgreninja, the only way to add fish to Link’s home garden pond in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is to scan the Mipha Breath of the Wild amiibo. You have to scan it while standing directly above the pond. Doing so will make a bunch of live fish spawn in there. Problem is, they despawn after a while, just like they would if you’d scanned the amiibo anywhere else. So, yeah. No matter what you do, that Sanke Carp is the only aquatic pet you can keep indefinitely. Will this change with a future update? Maybe. As it stands, though, you either use the Mipha amiibo for some temporary company or just litter the pond with dead fish.
Confirmed! We accidentally k**** the first fish but were pleased to see new ones appear after scanning Mipha. Also confirming to know the original fish will respawn – since it was somewhat traumatic for my 8 year old and I to try to unsuccessfully “put it back” only to see it float on it’s side! ?

Actually found another amiibo the “Toon Link” amiibo also works since it spawns fish with its chest. I got a Hyrule Bass, Sizzlefin Trout, Armored Porgy, and a Mighty Trout by doing this. I take it any amiibo that relating to water/fish theme may work for this. Might try some Splatoon characters and since thats really the only others I have just to test lol.
I’ve scanned in the splatoon amiibos. They only spawn meat, mushrooms, and herbs
My ponds are empty. No fish. No water. WTF happened?
Either a glitch or the angle of the pond is too steep. Make sure it is flat and maybe on a surface as well, not hanging off. Though I believe it’s simply the angle.
