Can Poliwag be Shiny in Pokemon GO 2023

Yes, Poliwag can absolutely be shiny in Pokemon GO in 2023. In fact, the cute little Water-type tadpole Pokemon has had a special version for a very long time, possibly from the very beginning. Naturally, these are very rare, as are all other shiny Pokemon. Luckily for all of you that are on the hunt for a shiny Poliwag, there’s a Community Day coming soon (on July 30th, to be exact). For the duration of the event (aka from 2 PM to 5 PM local time), Poliwag will spawn more often in the wild. Therefore, your odds of encountering a shiny will be that much higher. Not super-significantly higher, but still. Every little bit helps when you’re shiny-hunting. Good luck.

With all of that said, there’s also the matter of telling the difference between a shiny and regular Poliwag in Pokemon GO. They are actually really similar. The difference is that is that the shiny Poliwag is a few shades of blue lighter than the normal one. If you have normal color vision, it shouldn’t be too difficult, but if you have trouble seeing blue… I don’t know what to tell you. You should just hunt down every single Poliwag you come across and hope for the best. In fairness, everyone should do that during the Community Day, because you’ll want to evolve the Poliwag into Poliwrath for it to have the Counter move. You’ll need a total of 125 Candy to do that.
